How are debts counted in the balance?
Debts do not change the regular balance. On iPhone they are counted in a separate line on the Summary, “With debts”: it shows how much money you have on hand right now. Money you lend lowers it, money you borrow raises it. The line includes debts with the “Show on Summary” switch on (it is on for a new debt); if there are no such debts or they add up to zero, the line is hidden. Android has no such line. An example for iPhone:
- say you have $1000 — that is your current balance;
- you lend $100. The app assumes the debt will be repaid one day, so your current balance does not change, even though you now have $900 on hand. The balance including debts is exactly that: what you have right now;
- the opposite case: you borrow $100. Your current balance again does not change, because we know you intend to repay it, but you have $1100 on hand — and that is your balance including debts.
